Deck Material: Composites

If near zero maintenance is your aim, then opt for composite decking. Made by combining a blend of recycled plastic and waste wood chips or sawdust, these boards will not splinter and do not need to be painted or stained. Composites can be textured to appear like real wood, and different composite types are resistant to fading, UV, insects, stains, splitting and/or warping. Composites, like TimberTech, Trex, Veranda, and CorrectDeck, to name a few, are primarily composed of recycled plastic and wood fibers. The result is an extremely weather and stain resistant board. Most composite decking manufacturers also offer a line of balusters, handrails, fascias and other decorative trims.
